The Reverend Michael Anthony Carrington, Jr., M.Div.
The Reverend Michael Anthony Carrington, Jr. is an ordained Elder in The United Methodist Church, serving under the episcopal leadership of Bishop LaTrelle M. Easterling in the Baltimore-Washington Conference. He currently serves as Pastor of Good Hope Union United Methodist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he was appointed by Bishop Easterling.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Rev. Carrington's journey into ministry is one marked by God's providence and grace. While pursuing higher education with aspirations of a legal career, he discerned the unmistakable call of the Holy Spirit to pastoral ministry. Responding in faith, he enrolled at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., where he earned the Master of Divinity degree and began preparing for a lifetime of servant leadership in Christ's Church.
Rev. Carrington accepted his first pastoral appointment at the age of twenty-five when Bishop Marcus Matthews appointed him to St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Reisterstown, Maryland. Since then, he has faithfully served congregations throughout the Baltimore-Washington Conference, including Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial United Methodist Church in Baltimore, Eastern United Methodist Church, and in extension ministry as Campus Minister at Morgan State University.
Today, Rev. Carrington has the privilege of serving as Pastor of Good Hope Union United Methodist Church, where he is committed to leading the congregation in vibrant worship, intentional discipleship, community engagement, and faithful witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Rev. Carrington's call to ministry is deeply connected to Eastern United Methodist Church, where he was raised in the faith under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Constance C. Smith. It was there that he professed his faith in Jesus Christ, discerned God's call to ordained ministry, and preached his first sermon entitled "Have Faith." Those formative experiences continue to shape his understanding of servant leadership, faithful discipleship, and the importance of investing in future generations of Christian leaders.
His ministry is rooted in the Wesleyan tradition and centered on proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Rev. Carrington is passionate about biblical preaching, vibrant worship, evangelism, discipleship, pastoral care, and leadership development. Known for his dynamic preaching, engaging storytelling, and practical application of Scripture, he seeks to proclaim God's Word with both theological depth and pastoral relevance, encouraging believers to grow in faith while equipping them to serve Christ in their homes, workplaces, and communities.
Believing that the Church is called not merely to gather but to go into the world as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, Rev. Carrington is committed to helping congregations become spiritually vibrant, mission-focused, and deeply connected to the communities they serve. His vision is to cultivate churches that faithfully embody God's love through worship, service, evangelism, and intentional disciple-making.
One of the guiding Scriptures of his life and ministry is John 1:12–13:
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."
Rev. Carrington believes wholeheartedly in the power of prayer, the transforming grace of Jesus Christ, and the unwavering faithfulness of God. He often reminds those he serves that "A setback is nothing more than a stepping stone for a comeback," encouraging others to trust God's purpose even through life's greatest challenges.
Rev. Carrington is married to his wife, Tariah, and together they are the proud parents of three children. Outside of ministry, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, bowling, fitness, and mentoring emerging leaders.
Whether preaching from the pulpit, teaching in the classroom, or serving alongside God's people, Rev. Carrington considers it a sacred privilege to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to participate in God's ongoing work of transforming lives, communities, and the world.
Grace and peace,
