Church Administrative Assistant
Position: Church Office Assistant/ Part time (20 hours/ week)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (especially Word and Power Point)
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of e-mail
  • Good communication and organization skills
  • Good verbal and writing skills
  • Knowledge of church operations
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Willingness to learn new software applications
  • Become familiar with church operations specific to Good Hope Union UMC

Responsibilities: Administrative support to include at least the following duties:

  • Typing
  • Photocopying
  • Organizing and filing documents
  • Entering church data
  • Producing and collating church bulletins
  • Handling church /pastor’s correspondence
  • Managing the pastor’s calendar
  • Changing the church sign weekly

Salary: $ 17.00/hr

Must have transportation

Administrative Duties

Daily

  • Retrieve mail from mailbox and sort to appropriate ministry
  • Check secretary’s mailbox for action items
  • Check answer machine for messages, record and sort as needed
  • Check fax machine for relevant correspondence
  • Review e mail for relative action items
  • Update website and social media accounts as needed
  • Input membership information
  • Work on church bulletin

Weekly

  • Update voice mail message
  • Send weekly announcements by e-mail
  • Review church bulletin boards and displays for outdated information
  • Produce visitors’ letters based on visitors’ cards for pastor’s signature
  • Copy and file visitors’ letters with signatures along with signature cards
  • Copy and collate church bulletins
  • Produce power point presentations for church services
  • Upload sermons
  • Change the church sign

As Needed

  • Order office supplies
  • Maintain and organize purchase orders, invoices, etc.
  • Enter relevant data into conference data base
  • Perform light duties for church ministries (e.g. typing, copying , etc)
  • Send bulk mailings
